Team Building Ideas

Sometimes a company needs to collectively take a break and give its hard-working employees the chance to unwind. Once people get to know each other on a personal level, rather than through the veneer of professionalism and office politics, it can often become easier to work with one another on a day to day basis. And a shared experience can do wonders in terms of bringing people together.

But what sort of day will everyone appreciate? In most companies, there’s such a variety of individuals that it can be hard to cater to everyone’s tastes. It may be the case that some of the typical team building activities you would assume everyone would enjoy may be unsuitable, or perhaps make some members of staff feel uncomfortable. Nothing is worse than putting the effort into a special day for everyone to enjoy, only to find that no one seems to be having a particularly good time.

That’s why it is important to assess all the options available to the company. Decide on a rough budget and shop around to see what’s available. Failing to do this could lead to an embarrassing moment at a later stage, when you realise you’ve missed out on a truly memorable team-building opportunity.

When it comes to deciding which activity to do there are certain “go to” activities that seem to work well in most office situations. One modern classic is paint balling. A company can organise themselves into teams (or death squads), pick up their weapons and get either as tactical or as Rambo as they like. Cue rudimentary military sign language and terrible Arnold Schwarzenegger impressions. Usually there will be a variety of scenarios to play through, such as sieges, capture the flag and sometimes even historic reenactments.

But sometimes the idea of paint balling won’t appeal to certain members of a team. For a more refined day out, a team cookery session can be a great activity, and usually an activity that is universally liked by the group. Corporate days are available for almost all styles of cookery, from traditional English to Thai. This is great way to get teams to gel, whilst simultaneously broadening their culinary horizons.

There are also a variety of rather more unorthodox corporate days that have emerged in recent times. Smoothie making, sumo suit wrestling and even spy days are becoming increasingly popular. Whether you decide to go with a tried and tested day, or something more unusual, team building is an essential part of modern office life.

Allowing for a properly bonded team to form doesn’t make sense only from a HR perspective, but also from a financial one. Studies have shown that people working in offices built on good relationships are actually more productive, with a lower staff turnover.

Team building days are not the only way to build office relationships, but they should form a part of a business’s overall strategy to keep staff happy.

The Truth Behind Online Scams

The Truth behind Online Scam

While it is good that people learn how to deal with online scam, it’s a wise move we all need to learn but focusing on dealing with scam should not be the first move. Scam can be compare to a coin, coins are made of two parts, and one part cannot function without the other. Most people become victims of online scams, because they only look at things from one point of view.  The scam itself is one side of the coin, while the person about to be swindled is the other part. People pay attention to what the scam is all about and fail to do a thorough check on themselves who is about to be duped. Below are five reasons why scam works

1. Financial Difficulty – Getting stuck in financial rut is mostly due to carelessness or wastage of resources available. Many people look after their wants, which leads to bad spending habits, and get careless with their needs which is the road map to financial independence. This mess always call for desperate solutions, which usually push one to start coming up with desperate actions. Financial independence takes a lot of courage and self-sacrifice to construct and build. Most people are not willing to travel down that road. Therefore, in order to be saved from financial mess and difficulty they’ll start running from pillar to post looking for quick fix. They never buy the idea that financial bondage could be a long process to transform it into financial freedom. Their desperate attitude for a quick fix most times pushes them into the scam world where false promises are presented in a very clever manner. They get consume by these promises; they often act before they think. In the end instead of getting solutions to their problems, they compound them through their desperate actions.

2. Greediness – A greedy person has a terrible appetite for more even when they don’t need more. They mostly function by selfishness and greed; they have a strong believe that the only means to survival is to be greedy and selfish. They are very good at using people because everything must always revolve around them, as long as they keep having their selfish ways they don’t care who gets hurt along the way. Most things that are in their possessions are often acquire through greediness and selfish means, they wrestle many times with envy and jealousy and the latter always takes the upper hand. Satisfaction and contentment are tools they never make use of; their habits are also made of cheating and coveting. Their terrible appetite for more, often lure them into both online and offline scam really and truly, when they get scammed they are only being paid back in their own coins.

3. Wild Imagination – Imagination are of many forms but the wild one is the appropriate one that applies in this case. One of the greatest gifts man has ever posses is the gift of imagination. This awesome gift has helped man in many ways to achieve the unthinkable, the impossible and the unbearable. Once imagination gets connected with the mind, the sky will be the limit. Problem begins to sets in when imagination begins to run wild, Imagination runs wild when thoughts that are being formed or shape in the mind will only result in something terrible. When we are being presented about how to get rich quick overnight, our imagination begins to run wild about many things we will acquire and do. In as much that, it is not bad to think about having the beautiful things of life, we tend to get carried away by such thoughts that we never give room to other things that might appear real but are not real.

4. Instant Gratification – Many years ago I was at a seminar, in the middle of the seminar the speaker started talking about the book that relates to the topic of the seminar. The speaker referred to the book and claimed that he sold 500,000 copies of the book within two weeks. This I believe is a dream every author wishes it came through. However, the truth behind the instant success of the book is the author said that it took him twelve years to write the book, so whatever amount he made in two weeks from the sales of the book should be multiply by twelve. Most of the news we read about on the internet about people making lots of money week in week out, some are true while many are not. It must always be at the back of ones mind that for people to make thousands of dollars in a week they have already done a lot of work in the background. Therefore, anytime you come across a scheme that promises instant wealth, the best approach is to do some research because with some of them, you will become wealthy but it won’t be instant.

5. Frustration – The present economic situation in the world has caused many to lose their job, which is their means of livelihood. This has also led to many problems in a lot of marriages and the result has been frustration upon frustration. Frustration sets in when needs are not being met or things we set out to do are going from bad to worse. Frustrated people are mostly vulnerable, they want answers to questions, and they need solutions to problems. When people are frustrated and could no longer handle it, their feelings and control usually go haywire. Finding solutions to problems at hand is not advisable in the heat of the moment. People can be so blinded by frustration anything that comes in the form of help always seems right, they can be out of control with their feelings and emotions that, the will to live is reduced to zero. When people in this state come across some bogus offer, rather than not allow the situation to control them, they come up with many reasons while they think this is the solution to the problems. In the end when they discover that it’s all a scam, it only multiplies the frustration, which could lead to drastic actions.

Dealing with scam both online and offline must always start with the one who is about to be scammed. Being honest with oneself will save one from becoming a victim.
